March 10, 2011
At 0623hrs on Thursday Morning, Yorktown Fire, YVAC and the 34-medics were dispatched to the Taconic State Parkway, Northbound near the FDR off ramp for a rollover accident involving a van. Engine 270, Rescue Company 16 and Car 2538, the on-duty Lt, signed on responding to the incident. While in route, 60-control advised all incoming units that they were receiving reports from the State Police TMC that State Police were on location confirming reports of ejections from the vehicle with the accident taking up all 3 lanes.
NYS DOT Help trucks were already on location with the Northbound Lanes completely shut down and Rescue 16 was the first fire company on scene and confirmed a single vehicle rollover in all 3 lanes, with 4 patients, positive ejections, one unconscious, and negative entrapment. Engine 270 arrived moments later and units immediately went to work assisting EMS with stabilizing and packaging the patients for transport.
Patients were transported to the local hospitals by YVAC and MVAC, and Yorktown fire units stood-by until the van was removed by the tow company. Yorktown Fire cleared the scene at 0745hrs without further incident.
