The YHFD responds to a variety of areas, ranging from large industrial facilities, to sparsely populated New York City water supply areas. Our district is primarily residential, with dwellings ranging from modest 1-2 family homes to multi-million dollar mansions. Also included in our first due are 6 Schools/Learning Centers, a 6 mile stretch of the Taconic State Parkway, a theatre, 2 golf courses, and the IBM Watson Research Facility. The Croton Watershed area (NYC Water Supply) comprises a moderate portion of the south end of the district,  no water mains. YHFD is responsible for fire protection for approximately 36.2 square miles and 30,000 residents and businesses.
