At 06:51hrs on Friday, March 21st. The YHFD was requested to respond with an Engine to assist the Somers Volunteer Fire Department at the scene of a house fire on Loomis Dr in the Preserve Complex. Car 2533 and Engine 274 responded on the assignment and arrived as the 3rd due Engine Co. C-2533 and E-274 split crews with YHFD Volunteers operating a hoseline on the first floor and another line in the Basement to knock down advanced fire conditions throughout basement extending up to the first floor. While conducting interior operations, YHFD with SVFD, and other mutual aid agencies noticed conditions began to deteriorate with holes forming in the first floor. For safety reasons, the Somers IC removed all companies from the fire building and shifted to an exterior operation. The incident eventually grew to a 2nd alarm due to the need for additional resources. Yorktown Heights Volunteer Firefighters operated on scene with multiple agencies from both Westchester & Putnam Counties until being released around noon.
